Stopped by after a friend suggested trying the food. Ordered a take out that included a salad, a wrap, and a sandwich. Counter person was polite and explained sides but she either has a cold or something else is going on. Food was pricey but consistent with freshly made and healthy fare. Order came out after 15 minutes...so far so good. Walked to the car and discovered I wasn't given utensils and napkins. Now shouldn't a take out order include utensils and napkins? The answer is yes. Walked back and had to ask for them. Okay...no problem. The food was plentiful and eye appeasing...but totally lacked any flavors. Had healthy food before, even gluten free stuff but these meals were disappointing. They have two stars because of the convenience and quantity of food. Unfortunately I will not be a return customer.

Not kidding 6th time I have been here only able to eat a muffin one time. Came this morning 22nd Aug sat and 29 Aug Sat, and though they were supposed to open at 8 am, they had a sign saying sorry come back at 11. The muffin and drink I had one time was not good. Here is what has happened with my visits. 1st time I came and it was in between their breakfast and lunch time so they don't serve food, 2nd time they were closed the day after a holiday, 3rd time I can't remember what the issue was, 4th time they don't serve food after 2 pm on Sunday and 5th/6th time closed when they should be open. I feel like I need to be a psychic to eat here. Their hours on the door say nothing about their non-serving food ways...yes you can get coffee type drinks.

This really does seem like a hidden gem in the heart of Morgantown. Although every time I come here, I've only gotten the chai nana, which is a smoothie/shake made of almond milk, bananas, oats, and cinnamon. I would say that it's so refreshing to have on a breezy spring afternoon or a warm summer day, but I come here year-round for this.. Sometimes I'll come here with friends and sit as we enjoy our drinks. They have bookshelf cubbies next to you so you can grab a game of checkers, bananagrams, or browse some art books. Only 4 stars though, because I came here once for coffee and it was just meh.. tasted very plain. Hoped for better coffee from a cafe. I can't wait to come back here to try their brunch, or their amazing-looking bakery goods, or their awesome sounding lunch sandwiches...oh well, until next time. I think this place definitely has potential and I hope to give 5 stars after I try the other things on the menu!

While visiting a girlfriend to watch her present her dissertation and get her PhD (!!), we stopped here for breakfast a couple times on her recommendation. They have a great selection of specialty coffees and breakfast items as well as pastries and desserts. I had their egg scramble with home fries- delish! The shop is a bit small and tucked away in a industrial park, so grad an open seat if you see one ASAP! Coffee was great, breakfast fantastic, service was good and prices great. A hidden gem perfect for breakfast- I'd come again for sure!

UEggs any style. Home fries awesome. My friend took us here on our last visit to Morgantown (tears!). It's a cute little café hidden in a business park and guess what? They have a drive through! The café is very small and has a limited breakfast menu, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the food. I order the "Eggs Any Style" with scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries. If home fries are ever an option, I will always say yes! The eggs were okay but the bacon was perfectly crisp, just how I like them. The home fries were definitely my favorite. They were well seasoned and cooked all the way through - tender to the bite. They screwed up my coffee order using the wrong milk, but were quick to remedy it. We returned the next day and I got the exact same meal, haha! The place has plenty of seating and free wifi so you can get some work done.

Hidden gem located in a hard-to-find corner of Star City WV. My first impression wasn't great: over the summer I came here 3 different times, all were days they were closed, and their hours kept changing. I had given up on this spot. I guess that "fourth time is a charm" may have been more applicable to my situation, since it was the fourth time I came in that it finally was open. I came in the morning, and ordered a coffee, doing some work on my Macbook. It tasted great, they clearly care a lot about serving high quality coffee. A much needed break from the mediocre Starbucks. The atmosphere was perfect for getting a bit of work done, and they had outlets available and free wifi. Definitely appreciate both of those things. For lunch, I ordered a Thai and Peanut Wrap, with a Tomato Bisque side, and ordered a Dirty Chai with it. Let me tell you: everything was great. Well prepared, fresh food, great presentation, and obviously care was put into the menu and preparation. Honestly, this is a fairly rare treat in Morgantown. Price is a little high for the area, but for those familiar with paying around $10-15 for lunch and $5 for a drink, it's right in that range. For what you're getting, it's definitely worth it. Overall, I was very impressed. So impressed that I took a friend here for lunch no more than a few weeks later. On a Monday. It was closed. Looks like I'm one for five. Maybe sixth time's a charm?

Good place for a chill brunch/lunch date with baked goods, wine, and beer. Ingredients are good and you can taste the quality. Seasonal menus make the foods change... But I recommend the black bean and terra turkey burger!

Excellent fresh food and great service from the staff. Had the seared tuna salad and the warm caramel apples with bacon and goat cheese tapas. Atmosphere was laid back, great place to relax with a coffee or espresso.

My family passed through Morgantown last night after my son's orientation in Ohio. Before heading home, we Yelped places for breakfast but couldn't decide on a spot. Finally decided to do Sunday brunch in Terra Cafe because I saw that they have Jamaica Mountain coffee on the menu and it's by the river. When I got there they were setting up for brunch buffet $20 which I didn't expect since it was not blogged anywhere and they were not offering regular breakfast menu And no mimosas until 1 pm. Since I read somewhere they try to use locally grown ingredients I decided to try it out and I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was great. The food was so delicious and artisanally presented. There were 4 main items on the menu, quiche, egg Benedict w prociutto and melon, crab cake(full of crab), and chicken w berry salsa (since I'm a berry freak this is very pretty). The dessert was not overly sweet. My husband loved the cannoli. There were 4 to 5 types of cupcakes. They were all super delicious, tasty and fresh. And I am not a cupcake or cake person. I never touch it in any typical buffet. I have tried many buffets and this is one of the best. I prefer quality over quantity. The quality of food here is superb. I will definitely come back since I was too full to grab what I came here for, the Jamaica mountain coffee.

Good food, fresh ingredients. A little on the pricey side, but most of the time it's worth it. Great coffee and lattes too. Down in a tranquil place on the edge of Morgantown; a little far for students walking, but a very short taxi ride from Evansdale.

I love the coffee and smoothies here! The food is good, can be fairly bland, but good... They have some interesting combos that you should try at least once :)

I have begun eating here frequently over the past few months and the food is excellent. The Sunday brunch has had an outstanding array of foods and the all the lunch selections have been great. Also, a nice thing is the lunch was served quickly but, the food quality wasn't hampered. The staff is very friendly. Just an overall great dining experience.

I got a recommendation for this cafe from the locals. It is right up my alley, especially with the interior decor and patio seating along a beautiful hiking trail. The waitresses were super friendly and helpful in making selections. I got a hot chai latte with almond milk, sweet sensation lingered throughout the day. For lunch, I ordered the black bean burger with beet salad as a side dish. I am not a vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. This is not your regular veggie burger! The bun is made of pita bread and had some tahini on it. Otherwise, the vegetables were really fresh. Beet salad came with plenty of nuts and feta cheese. Other lunch options were tempting. I almost bought the whole store, despite being full :) Price was $9.95 for lunch meal. $4.45 for small spiced chai with almond milk. Produce is fresh, local, and organic for the most part.

This place is phenomenal. And it's so cute on the inside! Great location, the espresso is magical... I had the "black and blue" sandwich, and it was great. If you like trying new things, this is the place for you. I will definitely be going back. The staff is very friendly and accommodating as well :)

Very average food and very overpriced. Went in on Sunday at 1pm and we had to get the brunch buffet for $20 a head. Strange combination of dishes, none went together (vegetable quiche, spicy Mexican rice, and quinoa salad) and none were what I would have ordered. Definitely not worth $20 a person.

Came here for a quick late breakfast/quick lunch just as they were changing the menu. Tip: Come early and beat the crowds. I had the quinoa fig apple salad and my hunny had a sandwich (I forget which one). I also picked up the Chai and Oatmeal Banana Smoothie which was delicious. I live in Philly where the epicenter of good dining depends on the awesomeness of food meeting a good price. This place would be able to survive a big city if they ever took their creative efforts to one. The food is incredibly healthy and perfectly proportioned for the price. I want to come back for breakfast. Even though I live 5 hours away, I will be back without hesitation.

Can't say enough good things about this place! The food is always fresh, delicious, and healthful. The coffee? Best in the area!!! The service is fabulous. And the smoothies... oh, the smoothies! The Sunday brunch, while a bit pricey, is a gem within Morgantown.

Meh..NOT allergy friendly. I came here about 1.5 weeks ago because the statement on their website stated "don't hesitate to ask about the ingredients found in anything on our menu" and because of the locally sourced produce. After asking about my meal options and my food allergies (dairy, seafood, shellfish), I settled on a salad (it was kind of the only 'meal' I was able to eat according to the lady at the counter). The lady at the counter went to the kitchen multiple times to check about the ingredients for both the salad and the dressing, amongst other items on the menu but she seemed confused and kept asking if I was able to eat gluten even though I had stated clearly I cannot eat dairy, dairy by-products and seafood. Dood, it's NOT rocket science. When I got my meal, I had cheese crumbles in my salad, and promptly had to send it back. It was a disappointment considering I had asked about various ingredients on several menu items and made it very clear what I was unable to eat. It is interesting that they have gluten-free bread options but staff are extremely unaware of the consequences of other dietary restrictions (allergies, vegan, vegetarian, religious, etc.). that people may have. I highly doubt that cross-contamination prevention practices take place with the service and the confused staff I dealt with. The lady had NO IDEA what I was talking about when I mentioned dairy by-products like whey, casein, and lactose on top of main dairy products I have to avoid such as buttermilk, milk, and cheese. Unlike people who avoid certain food items by choice, I have to be careful so I don't end up in the ER. My server did not seem confident on the menu options available to me after I asked about what I could eat with my allergies, and I was not given many alternative options other than a salad. Sorry, but a salad is NOT a satisfying meal, especially if you have food allergies - we usually end up with lettuce, oil, and red wine vinegar if we're lucky. If we're really lucky, there's garbanzo beans or cucumber slices. If you have Celiac or have food allergies, I would not recommend coming here. If you're vegan, you'll probably eat something with dairy and not know about it unless you specifically ask about ingredients in detail. If you're vegetarian, you're in luck and you'll have lots of options. I brought my roommate here to eat with me because it seemed like a restaurant that would be more aware to people with dietary restrictions based on what was on the website but it is not. My roommate has since returned and brought others to the restaurant so it is indeed a good restaurant..if you don't have any dietary restrictions and I would certainly eat here all the time if I was able to eat dairy and seafood. The ambiance is awesome, it is not noisy and there is a lot of space and light. At the entrance of the cafe, there are local, handmade beauty/bath products and hand painted coffee mugs that are really cute. There is a Sunday brunch and even alcoholic beverage options on the drink menu. The sandwiches are good according to my roommate but I do not recommend it at all if you have dietary restrictions of any sort. I was given a $10 gift card for the kitchen mistake, but I also still had to pay for my hot cider. Due to the severity of my allergies and despite the fact I mentioned *numerous* times to not have cheese on my salad and my clear emphasis on what I was unable to eat and the staff disregarding my request, I can't come back here. Otherwise, I sincerely DO recommend this place if you don't have dietary restrictions. I really hope that one day the staff are more aware of food allergies and the importance of the consequences of staff with a nonchalant attitude towards allergies when the cafe website specifically states that ingredients in the menu are something I can ask about without hesitation.

I love this place. There are so many good things about it. One of the best things is that it is on the end of a beautiful bike ride over from Morgantown through the core arboretum. I've only eaten here a couple times but the food has always been good and the prices are exceptionally reasonable. What I love about it the most is the excellent WiFi and the very tasty coffee. A travel cup refill is only $1.33 including tax and the refills are free. The coffee is pretty strong, though, so I don't get more than one refill. The only things I don't like are: 1) the bougie clientele, and 2) the music on the PA. Most of the clientele are very bougie and such people simply make me uncomfortable. This is the clientele the cafe caters to so that is my problem, not theirs. The music on the PA is often too loud and is often classic rock. I am an old geezer and I remember this music when it first came out. It has been played to death and should be forgotten. I don't believe pop music from any era should be played on the PA. Pop music is obtrusive by definition. Music in a cafe should be subdued and understated, in my opinion. I very much resent having to stick ear-buds in my ears to block out unpleasant pop music. This is the sort of thing I expect in a MacDonalds. This cafe has started to offer live music after 6pm on Thurs-Sat. I've listened to 2 of these performances and they have been mixed in quality. One was a young solo singer and guitar player singing songs of his own composition. He didn't have much of a singing voice and the lyrics of three of his songs were unpleasantly angry: "Don't push me", "Don't crowd me", and "Don't throw your shadow on me". The other music, a 3 piece instrumental band was very pleasantly ambient.

Great place to sip coffee and do homework or enjoy lunch with friends! This place has a very unique menu with fresh and exciting dishes for Morgantown. I have really enjoyed my several trips down to Terra Cafe and plan on coming back!

I've always enjoyed the lunch/dinner entrees here. Coffee is always great, if not a little on the strong side, but that's what good coffee is for, right? I had the brunch buffet for the first time this afternoon. Absolutely delicious. Everything was very fresh, and the spread was eclectic just as promised. Personally enjoyed the eggs benedict with cranberry hollandaise sauce and the quinoa salad. My one and only complaint is when items ran out during the course of the afternoon, it took a little time to get them replaced in the buffet line.

I started coming to Terra Cafe because of its vegetarian/pescatarian options and the notion (from its advertising) that they provided consciously made food with local, organic, and/or sustainable ingredients. I was a regular costumer, but after several visits decided to start asking about ingredients. I was disappointed to find out that the Salmon-Omega Club sandwich is made with farm-raised salmon, and that most, if not all of the fruit and vegetables aren't. Despite this, I do commend them on having some locally sourced products, making their own bread with minimal ingredients, and their extensive list of smoothies and coffee drinks (I especially like that they offer almond milk for lattes, cappuccinos, etc.). I will also say that everything I have eaten has been wonderful, but if you're looking for food without all the "bad" stuff, this probably isn't the place to go.

  • Josh A.

Ambitious and with its heart in the right place - local ingredients, interesting preparations, nice coffee. But their ambition often exceeds their execution - lukewarm panini, underheated Mac and cheese that is little better than Kraft, etc. Things seem to have gone downhill, maybe because Terra is becoming less a gourmet lunch place and more of a speedy Starbucks wannabe. Focus on what you're doing right! All in all, a decent but sometimes disappointing option. Room could be comfier as well - a bit antiseptic.

I love this place! The atmosphere is so nice, big space, lots of seating options (couches, tables, outdoor seating). It's really modern I'm IN LOVE with their fresh squeezed lemonades. I've been there a handful of times, and there's only one dish I'd recommend to steer clear of... it was some sort of yellow tofu curry. It was really bland and boring. BUT I've gotten lots of other things and eaten off my friend's plates and everything else was really yummy. Great vegetarian options and fresh delicious food!

  • Suzanne S.

Went there for lunch. Had a delicious chicken salad sandwich and my boyfriend had the terra Italian which was pretty amazing. They have lovely outside seating. In my opinion, what makes the sandwiches particularly expectional is the bread. It is made fresh in the premises and is absolutely spectacular. Best of all, you can buy a baguette to take home. I didn't have one, but they have smoothies which looked like a popular option. Will definitely be back.

Fresh, delicious food! I waited too long, but got to go to one of their Sunday brunches. Absolutely delicious. I hope they bring them back soon. The baked goods are amazing and the coffee is very good! Great atmosphere too. A great place to study and the greatest teas!

Sitting in here now writing this review. The cafe itself is a nice place. Pretty big, with a nice area to study on some couches if that's what you're here for. The place is clean. We had a couple lattes that were pretty good. The price of the coffee is comparable to any little coffee shop. We also had lunch here. Steak wrap and the tuna salad sandwich. Both were delicious, especially the tuna. As a side we got a cup of the hearty veggie soup, which is also a generous portion and good with plenty of veggies (not one of those where its mostly soup). The only knock on this place that I have from this first time here is that it's just a bit pricey for the food. It is quality, pretty healthy food though, so worth it. Oh, and five staff is also super friendly and helpful. Overall awesome place. Support this local establishment!

Finally had a chance to try the Cajun Brunch today. Delicious variety of veggies, fruit, bread, and sweet and savory dishes. As a vegetarian, I would appreciate if 1 of the egg dishes didn't contain meat (both the Eggs Benedict and Scrambled Eggs had meat), but the vegetarian jambalaya with tofu was really good, but I like some eggs with my brunch. Including a drink with the buffet price would be greatly appreciated too (basic coffee or juice), it wasn't clear if the price included that or not.

I love this place. Locally sourced food, thoughtfully prepared, in a clean, pleasant environment by gracious servers. the strawberry pie was to die for, the ham and cheese croissant was superb (they bake all their own rolls and croissants!), the tuna on salad greens...both healthy and delicious, and the coffee...great. What more can you ask for?

I had the worst tofu sandwich ever, tasteless except for the burned taste. Horrible. I did eat the bread which was excellent, but the soup was way too spicy. I told a worker about the tofu who said, "I guess you want a refund", obviously not really wanting to give one. I declined because I ate the bread, but really should have gotten it. I won't be going back.

This is a somewhat delightful, somewhat bemusing place which reminds me of One World Café in Baltimore, though it might stand to be a little cozier. It's the kind of place where you'll hear the phrase "gluten-free" more in five minutes than you probably do most months, the kind of place where, when you order the daily special Chai Latte (thereby already feeling conspicuously frou-frou), the very friendly and most, most earnest staff asks 3-4 followup questions to make sure it will be everything you have envisioned. It seems strangely tucked away in a far corner of town. I think it would do well just off campus, maybe near Mountain People's Co-op, where it could draw the more-hippie-less-frat university contingent. Maybe they're counting on foot and bike traffic from the river trail. Dad ordered a salmon sandwich. The salmon was well-prepared, though it might have been enlivened by a sauce, and Dad thought the bread was too tough. He sent most of it home with me, but devoured the turkey chili he got with it. For my side, I had a salad which was uninspired but made with fresh ingredients, especially delicious grape tomatoes, something I don't normally like. My sandwich was a *fantastic* panini with fried onions, apple slices, and blue and Havarti cheeses between a rich bread, delicious and filling (half went home). I wouldn't have killed anyone who tried to take it off my plate, but there might have been some maiming. For dessert, I had a cannoli which was good, but not memorable. Dad got a pecan square which was like an entire pecan pie condensed into 4x4 inches. Holy cow. I finish the last third when his eyes started doing a sugar dance, then we walked across the trail to the riverside park to watch the kids at the playground. A great place with great people, and a chance to support local farmers and bakers. I'm glad Morgantown has it.

I have been hearing about this restaurant since it opened, I finally made it over there this week. It was excellent! Real coffee, real food, real fast. And reasonable prices. How can you go wrong with that? Everything I have tried there so far has been great. I appreciate that they have a gluten free menu because my son has Celiac disease, and that I do not have to explain the importance of not getting wheat in his food. A comfortable roomy place with style and character. I highly recommend it!

I"ve been looking for a decent place to get any kind of food in Morgantown for the past year since I moved here...and I finally found it! This place is delicious!! I've had all their salads, their cookies, several of their sandwiches and their coffee. All of it has been fantastic. It's a bit pricier than most places in Morgantown, but it is worth EVERY penny. The service can often be slow, which is the only downside, so go ready to spend some time. I've heard that brunch can be painful...but that just speaks to how good this place is that the wait is that long. I'm heading there again today, 3rd time in 5 days, to get some coffee and a cookie. I will spend many hours there this winter...that's for sure. Thank you Terra Cafe!
